A home face lift...

My in-laws are some of the most kind and generous people I have ever met.  They are so inviting and welcoming bringing friends, family and strangers into their home for holiday's, Sunday lunch, or just a random week night dinner.  Always more concerned with helping and taking care of others,  they very much deserved this update!

Their old kitchen {I forgot to take before photos - I REALLY need to get better at that} was a typical country look with white and blue tiled countertops and yellowed oak cabinets.  The highlight of the old kitchen was the avocado green stove that was temperamental at best.

A few months before the wedding and birth of a new grandson{not ours!!} they decided to do a 'little' home face lift {no better time than the present, right?}...

and 6 weeks later...

... a beautiful new kitchen equipped with new {much needed} double ovens and more cabinet space!

New flat cooktop with tile backsplash.  Above the cooktop is a great place to add a little detail.

New bathroom - gutted to the studs!
Love the floor tile on the angle - it really makes the room seem larger.

It was a little crazy in their home for a few months as they gutted two bathrooms and a kitchen, repaired floors, and had ALL the walls and trim painted.  I was lucky enough to get to be included and assist in selecting colors, cabinets, and accessories.

I am thrilled that it looks great and that they love all of it!

  1. I love my new kitchen and bathrooms. Something I'd wanted to do for a long time but every time I thought about it I did not have the courage to give it a try. Missy "held my hand" every step of the way. I could see a piece of granite right in front of me, but I could not see it in my mind with the tile or cabinets previously picked out. Missy could see the whole picture and let me know if it would all go together. You should see the paint colors she picked out for my house. Missy, you need to do another post just on what you taught me about adding depth to your house in paint shades. Amazing!
