<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
Today's Pinteresting post can to me by total accident. I was gathering pictures for a completely different topic {one I will reveal at a later date} when I decided to take a little break and lean back to relax for a minute...and then it hit me!</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
<em>That is one boring, blah ceiling!</em></div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
I then decided to change the post completely because too often I look up during a 'mental break' while working or when I lay down at night I think to myself, "Why are all our ceilings flat, boring and white?"</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
While perusing through <a href="http://pinterest.com/mrbrownlee/">Pinterest</a> I am almost always drawn to interesting ceiling details and when working with clients I always address the ceiling, so why, in my own house, are all the ceilings 'ceiling white' and flat?!</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
So, today I hope to inspire you to address that 'fifth wall' with color, texture, pattern....the possibilities are endless!</div>

<br /></div>
<div align="center">
This weeks Pinteresting Post is completely selfish...but I hope you enjoy...</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
I am trying to complete our guest room and have been looking for inspiration. Like the dinning room, the guest room has a lot of the 'prettier' or 'girlier' things. The guest room is also <em>my</em> room...it houses all of my clothes and my bedroom furniture from before we were married. We used my white comforter and got some new silk draperies in a pretty teal to add some color. The room has been 90% complete since the second week I moved in, but the walls are bare and therefor the room is not complete enough to share. </div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
I have always liked gallery walls and collages and love them in hallways, up staircases, or in entry rooms. We have none of those spaces...well we do have a hallway, but it isn't big enough for this. So, I am thinking about doing one in the guest room. I need something over the headboard and there is one small blank wall in there, so I have a few options. I have collected a few things that could be used for a gallery wall, but had not been able to commit to a plan. I found a lot of great inspirational gallery walls on <a href="http://pinterest.com/mrbrownlee/">Pinterest</a> last week to jump start me and get me moving on this project that has been sitting on the bed for months.</div>

I am at the point in my life where it seems that everyone is in baby mode. Most of my friends are either pregnant or already have the first and are thinking about baby #2. We just got married so we are not quite there yet, but we sure do like having friends and family with little ones that we can play with and then return them to their parents when they get fussy!</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
Another perk is that I have had the opportunity to help with some nurseries. I am excited to show this little boys nursery. This room has a great balance of little boy and sophistication. The parents really wanted to select furniture that would grow with their child. </div>

<br />
<div align="center">
We selected just the right shade of blue for the walls, Sherwin Williams Hinting Blue {SW 6519}, to work with the perfectly understated bedding from <a href="http://www.rhbabyandchild.com/index.jsp?link=global_logo">Restoration Hardware</a> {it has been discontinued}. The curtains were custom made and will easily grow with this little boy or work in another room. We selected a neutral upholstery for the chair to allow it to be used with any gender {future babies?}.</div>

The parents wanted to do a custom monogram above the crib, so we selected SW Well-Bred Brown {SW 7027} for the letters and large boarder and SW Denim {SW6523} for the inner boarder. It was a fun project and I was glad to be able to do something so personal for this nursery. This is a great idea not only for nurseries, but in a living room or in a master bedroom. With some strategic measuring, home made stencils and a pencil this is an easy weekend project that can cost next to nothing!</div>

I shared my new fall wreath last week. I haven't added much fall decor to the house other than a small fall table scape to the dining room table. I have limited myself to these two things this year, as I do not want to scare the new husband too soon with holiday transformations {I'll leave that for Christmas! I love decorating for Christmas}</div>

It is a little sad that I say "It's beginning to feel a little like fall" when it is still in the 80s, but if you live in the southeast, you know that the weather this past week has been heavenly. It just makes me more eager for fall - my favorite season of the year! </div>

<br />
Although we may be a few weeks away from the above {hopefully not the last one, though!}, I thought I could at least begin decorating for fall. I've never decorated much for fall, but ever since I saw <a href="http://jonesdesigncompany.com/decorate/ruffle-wreath-a-tutorial/">this</a> tutorial on <a href="http://jonesdesigncompany.com/">JDC's</a> blog, I had in mind a fall wreath. I made one last year and adorned it with a few fabric flowers in fall colors. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I0n4B8AE-RA/Tm-AM2zKZ7I/AAAAAAAAAcI/_CbunsU2-a4/s1600/DSC00477.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I0n4B8AE-RA/Tm-AM2zKZ7I/AAAAAAAAAcI/_CbunsU2-a4/s640/DSC00477.JPG" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I continued to use it in the spring with a few 'springier' flowers, but the problem with this wreath now is that it blends in with our front door, and I think it is too small. I love our door, but natural burlap doesn't show up very well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-A5yGZkn9sf0/Tm992nOWL3I/AAAAAAAAAbw/z7CYrMEwWCE/s1600/spring.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-A5yGZkn9sf0/Tm992nOWL3I/AAAAAAAAAbw/z7CYrMEwWCE/s640/spring.jpg" width="430" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
<br />
Then I came across this picture on pinterest {don't you love pinterest!?}. I loved the big full flowers and the house numbers. I bought a wreath similar to this, but again, our door is wood and it didn't show up well, so I returned it.</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XITS7KSOAVw/Tm99q7YCchI/AAAAAAAAAbs/MfXe3P1s-h4/s1600/41515311_jcYf1DwL_c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XITS7KSOAVw/Tm99q7YCchI/AAAAAAAAAbs/MfXe3P1s-h4/s640/41515311_jcYf1DwL_c.jpg" width="480" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://missloviecreations.blogspot.com/">{source}</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div align="center">
Then I remembered that I had green burlap! Perfect!</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wq-uQDeDbJM/Tm9-0XxbQnI/AAAAAAAAAcE/sOP-gldMpKo/s1600/fall+wreath+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wq-uQDeDbJM/Tm9-0XxbQnI/AAAAAAAAAcE/sOP-gldMpKo/s640/fall+wreath+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
<br />
All the rich colors of fall!<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oU87EG4jzoc/Tm9-CftQHiI/AAAAAAAAAb8/IMTycqF-xh0/s1600/fall+wreath+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oU87EG4jzoc/Tm9-CftQHiI/AAAAAAAAAb8/IMTycqF-xh0/s400/fall+wreath+1.jpg" width="292" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mWPs-yKdvRU/Tm9-olQQNnI/AAAAAAAAAcA/iE_zyE4dsrc/s1600/fall+wreath+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mWPs-yKdvRU/Tm9-olQQNnI/AAAAAAAAAcA/iE_zyE4dsrc/s400/fall+wreath+3.jpg" width="267" /></a></div>
<br />
<div align="center">
I love how it turned out. It feels like fall and contrasts with the door perfectly. I ended up not adding the house numbers, I thought it was a bit too much...maybe on a winter wreath?</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
Is anyone else ready for fall? Happy weekend!<br />

for a designer that is...</div>
<div align="center">
<br />
is the kind that is willing to think outside the box, daring when it comes to their home AND wants your opinion and advice about what to do. Even better...they let you be a part of it - the shopping, painting, demo, etc. {and their husband doesn't care what they do!}</div>
<div align="center">
<br />
Luckily, I have one of those friends. When she calls and starts out the conversation with, "Sooo...I was thinking..." I know it is going to be good, might challenge me to think outside the box, will probably require getting a little messy, but will be a lot of fun and WILL happen ASAP. When she has an idea, not a week goes by before it is complete. Sometimes it is all I can do to slow her down to 'sleep' on it and think it all the way through. </div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
At the end of June I got one of those calls. Her husband was studying abroad for a month and would be returning in a week or so and she wanted to PAINT HER KITCHEN CABINETS! She needed to touch up the old white cabinets, but didn't have the matching paint color, and thought maybe a different color would look good, and that is where I came in. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-63IC0ZHEbnI/Tm9sEG8m1II/AAAAAAAAAbk/zJ3nfcqYH8A/s1600/IMG_0057.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-63IC0ZHEbnI/Tm9sEG8m1II/AAAAAAAAAbk/zJ3nfcqYH8A/s640/IMG_0057.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is the before...isn't that hardware just lovely! We replaced that too. She had already taken the pulls off when we remembered to take a before picture, but they looked something like a curly swirly 'S' and had been spray painted the same silver as the hinges.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UwRNzRrjdxw/Tm9r7DojyGI/AAAAAAAAAbg/u6yK5rwBvP4/s1600/IMG_0054.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UwRNzRrjdxw/Tm9r7DojyGI/AAAAAAAAAbg/u6yK5rwBvP4/s640/IMG_0054.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
<br />
We ripped off the old hardware and doors, sanded the faces down and picked out a new color with new updated hardware. I believe all supplies ended up costing just over $100.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NQjOay1AwiU/Tm9sJZO53gI/AAAAAAAAAbo/P0XgvqvTjvQ/s1600/IMG_0091.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NQjOay1AwiU/Tm9sJZO53gI/AAAAAAAAAbo/P0XgvqvTjvQ/s640/IMG_0091.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And what a difference! </div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BisJqoYqFhk/TmjLFIAXbnI/AAAAAAAAAa8/hkk1m2JXZ0g/s1600/mason+kitchen+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="448" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BisJqoYqFhk/TmjLFIAXbnI/AAAAAAAAAa8/hkk1m2JXZ0g/s640/mason+kitchen+3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
We left the doors off of the cabinets that hold her dishes so that they can be 'on display'. I think they look great {I have the same dishes, so I may be a little bias}. The white cabinets used to stick out and be the main thing you saw in the room. Now, you notice the beautiful teal walls, white bead board, great looking counter tops, and the subtle cabinet color.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Now it is the perfect kitchen for this fun and adventurous couple. Well almost, I know she has a few other upgrades she would like to do down the road...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<strong>A few tips if this is a project on your 'to-do' list:</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1. Talk to your local paint store about what kind of paint is on your current cabinets (i.e. oil or water based).</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2. make sure it is not raining or too humid outside. Let a couple days pass after a big rain so the air is dry.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3. A semi-gloss is very durable and cleanable paint surface.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
4. If you are replacing hardware be sure to pay attention to the number or holes your current hardware has and the distance of those holes, you may have to fill some holes before painting.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
5. Try the hinges out before to double check the fit of the doors. We ran into a problem at the end and had to cut down several of the doors about 1/4" because the new hinges shifted the doors over.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
best of luck!</div>

One of my favorite kinds of projects is working on new custom homes. I love the constriction side of this industry - the process from a blank piece of land to the smell of the exposed wood studs to the selection of ground work finishes and finally a new home awaiting family memories. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />It is hard to believe that this time last year this family was moving into their new custom built home in Franklin, Tennessee. With the announcement of a new baby on the way for them and a wedding coming up for me, it took a little while to get back together to do a photo shoot, but it is worth the wait! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This home was designed and built by local custom home builder, <a href="http://www.thehughesgroupllc.net/">The Hughes Group</a>. It is an open floor plan with a great flow throughout and beautiful architectural details. The kitchen has gorgeous painted cabinets and includes a large island in a contrasting wood stain with double sink looking into the living room, perfect for entertaining. The dining room and kitchen are connected with a convenient butler's pantry pass through.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The living room has a two story ceiling and a beautiful fireplace. {not my best photograph, sorry}</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oUR3lVf3NCI/TmjW60dWnaI/AAAAAAAAAbQ/Xir8PLhTa8E/s1600/Baxter+Fireplace.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oUR3lVf3NCI/TmjW60dWnaI/AAAAAAAAAbQ/Xir8PLhTa8E/s640/Baxter+Fireplace.jpg" width="406" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was mainly brought in for the paint selection. When you are starting from scratch with color it is important to keep in mind the entire home. You want the home to feel cohesive, flowing from one room to the next seamlessly. This does not mean you only use one color, but a family of colors that creates a palate. From there you can decide which rooms get what color to create a balanced and cohesive home. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This family knew they wanted the dining room to be a green, so that is where we started. We found a green that they liked and then worked to find a warm and earthly color palate to work throughout the home. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fKzKhGGhPZA/TmjW38S9HrI/AAAAAAAAAbI/Z0yS85ynGEM/s1600/Baxterdining.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fKzKhGGhPZA/TmjW38S9HrI/AAAAAAAAAbI/Z0yS85ynGEM/s640/Baxterdining.jpg" width="428" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
We took inspiration from some of the other finishes in the home including the countertops, tile, and brick to round out the palate.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zwZC6HWSXeA/TmjW5lpWOgI/AAAAAAAAAbM/hwR3mLaI0qw/s1600/baxter+bathroom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zwZC6HWSXeA/TmjW5lpWOgI/AAAAAAAAAbM/hwR3mLaI0qw/s640/baxter+bathroom.jpg" width="406" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ryKXaYnb4rM/TmjW979LgwI/AAAAAAAAAbY/j37gEHimu9w/s1600/baxter+tub.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ryKXaYnb4rM/TmjW979LgwI/AAAAAAAAAbY/j37gEHimu9w/s640/baxter+tub.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We repeated several of the colors in different areas of the home, some as accent walls, but ending up five wall colors and a trim/ceiling color {we used one of the wall colors on the ceiling in the dining room, too}. Many of the colors we selected are from the Sherwin Williams Nashville Collection {not available to view online, only in local Nashville stores}. This is not a widely distributed collection and some of the colors have been discontinued since it came out a few years ago, but I think it is a great collection of colors that I like to reference a lot. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I thoroughly enjoyed working with this family and am excited for them to have welcomed there new baby into this world. </div>

So, I mentioned this on Wednesday's <a href="http://definingdesigns.blogspot.com/2011/09/progress.html">post</a>.<br />
Could you guess what was bothering me about the dining room before?</div>
<div align="center">
I think it looks like a big orange pumpkin in the middle of the room!</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, I took it out {ahh...much better}</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
Then had to replace it with something while I worked on it </div>

<br /></div>
<div align="center">
{and the Husband seemed impressed! Said "it worked better than I thought it would" - he has a trust issue on some of me <em><strong>grand</strong></em> ideas - we're working on that :)}</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
This was definitely a labor of love, but I would do it all over again in a heart beat. For my birthday I asked for an orbital sander {knowing that this was my plan}. I got this Ridgid orbital sander which is available at Home Depot {and I'm sure other places}.</div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nj0tq_AAjCM/TmYuhFycwLI/AAAAAAAAAaM/bbZ2hWV6Emg/s1600/65db149e-c689-4edb-9d50-b2c882dd50c9_300.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nj0tq_AAjCM/TmYuhFycwLI/AAAAAAAAAaM/bbZ2hWV6Emg/s1600/65db149e-c689-4edb-9d50-b2c882dd50c9_300.jpg" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
I sanded down the top and some on the legs where there was some rough spots with the power sander. Then I stained the top Dark Walnut with an oil based stain. It took about 3 good coats to get the deep color I really wanted. I was amazed at how great the wood grain looked! </div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ER3r75wOIOo/TmYvUvQJMrI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/gA59wrNXykE/s1600/8dc1b379-92ae-4163-8520-16c7ce1cfcf2_300.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200px" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ER3r75wOIOo/TmYvUvQJMrI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/gA59wrNXykE/s200/8dc1b379-92ae-4163-8520-16c7ce1cfcf2_300.jpg" width="200px" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
Then the polyurethane process began. This was my least favorite part and took the longest. I applied 4 coats of oil based polyurethane with a satin finish. I didn't want a real high shine on the table since I was going for more of a farm table look, and this finish was perfect. I should note that I tried the spray polyurethane first {since I love spray paint and all!}, but it dripped really bad! I would only use it again on vertical surfaces, maybe. I ended up brushing it after spraying it on and then ran out and just bought the can the next time.</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XCfCJEusd_w/TmYrNgNOazI/AAAAAAAAAZk/07eq5msIiFc/s1600/Dining+Room+-+new+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428px" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XCfCJEusd_w/TmYrNgNOazI/AAAAAAAAAZk/07eq5msIiFc/s640/Dining+Room+-+new+2.jpg" width="640px" /></a></div>

At that time I knew it would be a challenge, but I just didn't want to drag it out. My plan was to get it all done and then do a series on here about the transformation. </div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">Well...</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">Like I said, it was a lofty goal...one I did not meet...and still haven't. </div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">Now I know you all have been waiting on the edge of your seats to see the once bachelor pad transformation {joke}, so I have decided to begin revealing our progress. </div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">A couple of weeks ago I revealed our <a href="http://definingdesigns.blogspot.com/2011/08/place-for-pretty-things.html">pretty little display bookcase</a> who found its home in the corner of our dining room. </div><div align="center"><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2NmqwSDyJS4/TkVnfRtxPkI/AAAAAAAAAVw/fZjBNM0Bp6o/s1600/new+bookshelf.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2NmqwSDyJS4/TkVnfRtxPkI/AAAAAAAAAVw/fZjBNM0Bp6o/s640/new+bookshelf.jpg" width="410" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Well, here is the entire dining room as it stands today...</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m_H5W78j8N8/Tkk7gl8ln0I/AAAAAAAAAXY/3gJUMndRTcQ/s1600/Dining+room+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m_H5W78j8N8/Tkk7gl8ln0I/AAAAAAAAAXY/3gJUMndRTcQ/s640/Dining+room+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
</div><div align="center">Our little dining room.<br />
On the right is my old dresser turned buffet.</div><div align="center">{the Husband didn't know why I kept calling it a buffet. He agreed we could put it in this room as long as there was a buffet on it everyday! There has yet to be one.}</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">We picked out the curtains back in February for the dining room and living room - they were about the only ones we could agree on, but I really like them! They are from <a href="http://www.jcpenny.com/">JCPennys</a>. We also painted before the wedding. The previous color was the same as all of the other rooms in the house - a soft neutral. This color accents perfectly!</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">But there is the reason this room is not complete. Can you guess what it is...???</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">I think it sticks out like a sore thumb...<br />
<br />
I'll let you ponder that until Friday when I reveal the fix :)</div>defining designs by missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15584659835195752746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-300028398377896127.post-66963466053945080862011-09-05T09:25:00.000-05:002011-09-05T09:25:26.084-05:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-D4O9EHzzuC8/TmPYoqyMRII/AAAAAAAAAYQ/HPaE7knI5DI/s1600/labor-day.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-D4O9EHzzuC8/TmPYoqyMRII/AAAAAAAAAYQ/HPaE7knI5DI/s640/labor-day.gif" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">For some this weekend is the chance to squeeze in one last day of sun and swimming.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xLa9Fx9ur30/TmTas4GFupI/AAAAAAAAAYU/XpV0ahH8cm4/s1600/labor-day-woman-relax.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xLa9Fx9ur30/TmTas4GFupI/AAAAAAAAAYU/XpV0ahH8cm4/s320/labor-day-woman-relax.gif" width="253" /></a></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
Not here in Tennessee, at least not this year. It is 63 degrees and rainy and we couldn't be happier to enjoy a cool, cloudy, rainy day inside after this miserably hot and dry summer!<br />
<br />
So weather you are soaking up the last bit of summer sun or getting cozy on the couch with a good movie, I hope you are able to enjoy a day off today. <br />
<br />
<br />
Coming up this week...our dining room reveal...</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span id="goog_2131688094"></span><span id="goog_2131688095"></span></div>defining designs by missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15584659835195752746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-300028398377896127.post-89409442510199259842011-08-30T20:16:00.000-05:002011-08-30T20:16:40.094-05:00I won!<div style="text-align: center;">I follow several different blogs, from design blogs to crafting/DIY blogs to photography blogs to cooking blogs. I enter giveaway contests on said blogs from time to time, but never win. The other day I was even thinking about how the odds of me winning these things was so small, why was I even doing it? </div><div align="center">Well, TODAY that changed!! </div><div align="center">I won!</div><div align="center">One of the blogs I like to go to for great easy recipes, <a href="http://jamiecooksitup.blogspot.com/">Jamie Cooks It Up</a>, hosted a giveaway earlier in the month for a new Cake Bites cookbook and today she emailed me that I had won!</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center"><img src="http://www.cedarfortbooks.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Cake_Bites_blog_tour_banner.jpg" /></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">It is called 101 Gourmet Cake Bites, by Wendy Paul. You can go <a href="http://101gourmetcakebitesbook.com/">here</a> to check it out, it even lets you read a few pages! It looks really cute, great pictures and easy to follow recipes. Now, I haven't ever made cake bites or cake pops, but I think they are really good when other make them and really cute for showers or parties. I can't wait to try a few out!</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">I guess I need to keep on entering giveaways :)</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">Has anyone else won something from an online giveaway?</div>defining designs by missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15584659835195752746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-300028398377896127.post-24348335294196883832011-08-24T12:54:00.000-05:002011-08-24T12:54:52.045-05:00Progress...transforming a bachelor pad<div align="center"><br />
I am a lucky girl.</div><div align="center"><br />
I married a guy who embraced the fact that there were, and still are, changes in store for <strike>his</strike> our house.</div><div align="center"></div><div align="center">All changes for the better...so I think. <br />
He hasn't put up a fight about much - although I don't think I have pushed the envelope too much.</div><div align="center"><br />
The girl in me wants to bring in all new colors and pretty silver shinny things, with beautiful paisley and fun prints for draperies and pillows. Or big bold stripes like in my previous <a href="http://definingdesigns.blogspot.com/2010/08/sophisticated-and-chic.html">condo</a>.</div><div align="center"><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y3o9qbSYsZk/TF1kcNpOdtI/AAAAAAAAAM0/armhOd_XPXU/s1600/From+front+door.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y3o9qbSYsZk/TF1kcNpOdtI/AAAAAAAAAM0/armhOd_XPXU/s400/From+front+door.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
</div><div align="center">For his sake, it is a good thing that the designer in me weighs more heavily than the girl in me - I know we are creating a home, our first home - a place we can both enjoy together. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WsBvm5OTpxs/TlU4MUfcsqI/AAAAAAAAAYI/pcMExdBrHwo/s1600/house.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="350" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WsBvm5OTpxs/TlU4MUfcsqI/AAAAAAAAAYI/pcMExdBrHwo/s640/house.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
Now, with that said, there are some things he just never knew, or realized, would make his home more enjoyable - like color, or curtains, or pictures on the walls! </div><div align="center"><br />
Or even better yet, this adorable little girl....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T1nyJaZN8NY/TklBFR51rQI/AAAAAAAAAXg/7SN2mWD4b5Q/s1600/sophie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T1nyJaZN8NY/TklBFR51rQI/AAAAAAAAAXg/7SN2mWD4b5Q/s640/sophie.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Maybe the biggest change he has had to embrace...my Sophie</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rXAZtxWHhrI/TklBHp2dLKI/AAAAAAAAAXk/q1tk0L7N7uc/s1600/sophie2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rXAZtxWHhrI/TklBHp2dLKI/AAAAAAAAAXk/q1tk0L7N7uc/s640/sophie2.jpg" width="428" /></a></div><br />
But how could you not love that sweet face :)<br />
<br />
</div><div align="center">The first stage of the transformation began before the wedding. </div><div align="center">We painted, added some curtains, rearranged furniture, and added a new rug. </div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">Over the next few weeks I will be posting about our progress of transforming this once bachelor pad into our 1st home. I'll be talking about furniture arrangements, paint color selections, decor tips and ideas, and some DIY projects I have been working on {other than spray painting lamps!} Stay tuned!</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="left">***Disclaimer: This is a process as is every home. Please bare with me as we work through :)</div><div align="center"> </div>defining designs by missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15584659835195752746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-300028398377896127.post-7096820723744220812011-08-15T10:14:00.003-05:002011-08-30T09:27:07.421-05:00I've done it again....<div align="center">Remember these? <br />

Well, in case you have forgotten how these first started out, I posted about them <a href="http://definingdesigns.blogspot.com/2010/10/transforming-old-into-new.html">here</a> and about a similar project <a href="http://definingdesigns.blogspot.com/2011/06/i-love-spray-paint.html">here</a>.</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">Well...</div><div align="center">I'm at it again...spray paint!</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">But this time ORB {oil rubbed bronze}.</div><div align="center"><br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FDL-X4F4je8/TkVlVOv1T4I/AAAAAAAAAVk/7XqthF64A7Y/s1600/ORB+lamp.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FDL-X4F4je8/TkVlVOv1T4I/AAAAAAAAAVk/7XqthF64A7Y/s640/ORB+lamp.jpg" width="428" /></a></div><br />
<div align="center">It's it pretty?!</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">They match our new floor lamp we got as a wedding gift from <a href="http://lumenlamps.com/index.asp">Lumen Lamps</a> in our living room {which is not quite ready to be revealed}. Who would have thought that the ugly 1970s lamps I grew up with, that we tried to sell in a yard sale about 15 years ago, lived with my sister in her apt, then in mine, would be living large in our home and look so great!<br />
<br />
<br />
Do you have any spray paint transformations?<br />
<br />
<br />
**TIP: If you are thinking about a spay paint options here a few a tips:<br />
1. Make sure your surface is clean<br />
2. Only spray paint in a well ventilated area - if you do it outside be careful that debris is not going to fly around and stick to your surface once painted. You also do not want it to be too windy.<br />
3. Make sure you are continuously moving the spray paint can - you do not want to over spray one area and then have it drip. It is better to do multiple coats instead of one heavy coat.<br />
4. Let it dry over night before handling<br />
</div><br />
<br />

I guess that shouldn't be too surprising, especially if you know the Husband. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">We have been in the process of rectifying this, using peieces that we already have but finding the right place for them in this house {i.e. finding a place for my furniture}. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I purchased this little bookcase a the <a href="http://www.nashvilleexpocenter.org/expo/fleamarket/">Nashville Flea Market</a> about 5 years ago.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7Kr7wkim8NE/Ti17LAfOc3I/AAAAAAAAAUo/7TiSsAQFXHU/s1600/DSC00977.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7Kr7wkim8NE/Ti17LAfOc3I/AAAAAAAAAUo/7TiSsAQFXHU/s640/DSC00977.JPG" width="427" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Cute little thing, isn't she?</div><div style="text-align: center;">The pale, not so perfectly painted yellow worked seemlessly in my shabby chic bedroom in college, but since then has sort of just been there holding things trying to be descrete. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">The yellow was definitely NOT going to work in our new home, so I decided to paint it the same color as our trim paint, {plus we had a lot extra}.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2NmqwSDyJS4/TkVnfRtxPkI/AAAAAAAAAVw/fZjBNM0Bp6o/s1600/new+bookshelf.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2NmqwSDyJS4/TkVnfRtxPkI/AAAAAAAAAVw/fZjBNM0Bp6o/s640/new+bookshelf.jpg" width="410" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-COB2o4H0-F0/TkVndNA7beI/AAAAAAAAAVs/KwRH0qFo43Q/s1600/bouquet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-COB2o4H0-F0/TkVndNA7beI/AAAAAAAAAVs/KwRH0qFo43Q/s400/bouquet.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6vnzOo4gNBo/TkVnZ_fA47I/AAAAAAAAAVo/Vj0U2htVWJc/s1600/B.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6vnzOo4gNBo/TkVnZ_fA47I/AAAAAAAAAVo/Vj0U2htVWJc/s640/B.jpg" width="427" /></a></div><br />
It really finishes off our dining room perfectly! <br />
Of course you will have to wait until next week to see the rest of the dining room :)</div>defining designs by missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15584659835195752746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-300028398377896127.post-1742622315959560432011-08-10T14:53:00.000-05:002011-08-10T14:53:24.512-05:00A home face lift...<div align="center">My in-laws are some of the most kind and generous people I have ever met. They are so inviting and welcoming bringing friends, family and strangers into their home for holiday's, Sunday lunch, or just a random week night dinner. Always more concerned with helping and taking care of others, they very much deserved this update! <br />
<br />
Their old kitchen {I forgot to take before photos - I REALLY need to get better at that} was a typical country look with white and blue tiled countertops and yellowed oak cabinets. The highlight of the old kitchen was the avocado green stove that was temperamental at best. <br />
<br />
A few months before the wedding and birth of a new grandson{not ours!!} they decided to do a 'little' home face lift {no better time than the present, right?}...<br />
<br />
and 6 weeks later...</div><div align="center"><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-H6sleVyAWrM/TkAocaxrhJI/AAAAAAAAAVY/B3x7atXd2WM/s1600/brownlee+kitchen.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-H6sleVyAWrM/TkAocaxrhJI/AAAAAAAAAVY/B3x7atXd2WM/s640/brownlee+kitchen.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
... a beautiful new kitchen equipped with new {much needed} double ovens and more cabinet space!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QohFoAIWR5Y/TkAoh6YnOeI/AAAAAAAAAVc/MmWJbSYtgsk/s1600/brownlee+backsplash.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QohFoAIWR5Y/TkAoh6YnOeI/AAAAAAAAAVc/MmWJbSYtgsk/s640/brownlee+backsplash.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
New flat cooktop with tile backsplash. Above the cooktop is a great place to add a little detail.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-b0wKWvA9oIE/TkAomfhbsbI/AAAAAAAAAVg/3SsuVH8zBso/s1600/brownlee+bath+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-b0wKWvA9oIE/TkAomfhbsbI/AAAAAAAAAVg/3SsuVH8zBso/s640/brownlee+bath+1.jpg" width="420" /></a></div><br />
New bathroom - gutted to the studs! <br />
Love the floor tile on the angle - it really makes the room seem larger.</div><div align="center"><br />
It was a little crazy in their home for a few months as they gutted two bathrooms and a kitchen, repaired floors, and had ALL the walls and trim painted. I was lucky enough to get to be included and assist in selecting colors, cabinets, and accessories.<br />
<br />
I am thrilled that it looks great and that they love all of it! </div>defining designs by missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15584659835195752746noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-300028398377896127.post-64312204102761727002011-08-08T12:53:00.000-05:002011-08-08T12:53:48.121-05:00A little eye candy...<div align="center">So I had a little birthday last month...</div><div align="center"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">Ree, is the <a href="http://www.thepioneerwoman.com/">Pioneer Woman</a> that I believe most of you already {or SHOULD} know by now. She has great recipes, but ever better, she has pictures to go with every step. Let me be clear, I am in no way claiming that I could ever be as good as she is!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I haven't ever written on here about food, and don't necessarily plan it becoming a habit, but lately I have been in a baking mood. With a small dinner group coming over tonight, I have been excited to get in the kitchen. The Husband decided he wanted to make fajitas and I found a new recipe on the Pioneer Woman's website for <a href="http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/01/restaurant-style-salsa/">salsa</a>. I know that isn't baking...yet. I am very picky about salsa - I DO NOT like chunky salsa! The only thing I did different from her recipe was to leave out the jalapeno seeds - I got nervous. It would have been ok...should have listened to her, she knows better than I.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">My parents came for a visit - our first overnight visitors in our home! It was a fun weekend of relaxing, eating, flea market{more about that soon} shopping, and the Franklin farmer's market. At the farmer's market I got some blueberries, green pepper, green beans, and zucchini - I thought zucchini bread sounded great!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Well, today was the day. I don't have a recipe on hand and since I was already at the Pioneer Woman's blog, I search there on Tasty Kitchen, where readers can upload their own recipes to share with other readers! I found this cute <a href="http://tastykitchen.com/recipes/breads/zucchini-bread-muffins/">muffin recipe</a>...and Oh - My - Goodness....they are yumm!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8EayWXxPdiw/TjHb8LEoqSI/AAAAAAAAAUs/7yWIpLAr4fI/s1600/Zucchini+Muffins.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8EayWXxPdiw/TjHb8LEoqSI/AAAAAAAAAUs/7yWIpLAr4fI/s320/Zucchini+Muffins.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">I ended up filling the muffin with the frosting inside with a decorator's tip - I thought it made it more fun to find the sweet cream cheese and sugar mixture inside. Unfortunately, the Husband does not like zucchini and is unwilling to give these a try, yet. Oh well, more for me!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AZku0wxRBJY/TjHb_TqjmrI/AAAAAAAAAUw/Ze_te214d3c/s1600/muffins+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AZku0wxRBJY/TjHb_TqjmrI/AAAAAAAAAUw/Ze_te214d3c/s320/muffins+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">*This makes a lot! I only made 2 dozen and trashed the rest because I did not have another muffin pan and didn't not want to wait to clean up - wasteful, I know. I did put half in the freezer before frosting and put half the frosting in the freezer as well.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">**My frosting may look different than yours if you try this...I didn't have enough powdered sugar and didn't know it until I had already put all ingredients in bowl. I added other sugar and some light brown sugar that I had on hand...butter, sugar, cream cheese...how could this be bad?</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div align="center">Well, I did it again :)</div><div align="center">It is just so easy and it makes SUCH a difference.</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">Our reception was held in the fellowship hall of our church. It isn't the most beautiful space, but it does have a kitchen and enough room for a large crowd {and it didn't cost much!}. The chandeliers that hang in there were a bit out dated in all their beautiful shinny brass glory {sarcasm intended}.</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CxUpXelty3U/TfEc7Lv8wOI/AAAAAAAAAUg/HrC6tre4I1Y/s1600/76615_1713270993632_1293886001_31871447_1945085_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CxUpXelty3U/TfEc7Lv8wOI/AAAAAAAAAUg/HrC6tre4I1Y/s320/76615_1713270993632_1293886001_31871447_1945085_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">{Love this lady! Sure hope they don't mind being on <br />
here! Photo courtesy of Mrs. Barbara Fox}</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">After getting approval from the church {and every bride that is using them after me for the remainder of the summer}, I gathered some very nice friends and family and we cleaned, sanded, took apart, painted and polished all four chandeliers. Some were skeptical and I don't blame them...</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tC9j5qP3irk/TfEeRBjUu3I/AAAAAAAAAUk/fSkghaeaRBo/s1600/Brownlee0+1137.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tC9j5qP3irk/TfEeRBjUu3I/AAAAAAAAAUk/fSkghaeaRBo/s640/Brownlee0+1137.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">...but I think they turned out great! They made the space look so different and really made me feel like I put my touch on it. After we had decided to use Justin we found out we had several connections as his wife and my now sister-in-law were roommates in college. Silly as it sounds, things like that put my mind as ease, especially when it came to my wedding photographer! He was so easy to work with and helped make our special day enjoyable with no stress! He really does great work. Most of the time we didn't even know he was there, but he captured so much of the day, moments we would have otherwise forgotten. Please visit <a href="http://justinwrightphoto.com/blog/?p=937">this post</a> from his blog highlighting our wedding day.</div><div align="center"><br />
You can also go to this <a href="http://prints.justinwrightphoto.com/brownlee">link</a> for all of the wedding photos. Two people that fall into this category are John and Alice - two of the sweetest people you may ever meet. </div><div style="text-align: center;">John was actually one of my college professors and is the Marriage and Family Minister at our church.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Alice, his wife, is about the cutest lady I've ever met and one of my new mother-in-law's best friends.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">They have an amazing talent!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Flowers...beautiful arrangements...and they are SO modest about it!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b4pEbYHMhIA/Td0T5RkGonI/AAAAAAAAAUA/UnuOPf3K3IA/s1600/Brownlee0+982.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b4pEbYHMhIA/Td0T5RkGonI/AAAAAAAAAUA/UnuOPf3K3IA/s200/Brownlee0+982.jpg" width="133" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QP7hyqoEAbU/Td0TQrsbvvI/AAAAAAAAATw/gMWPcR2rmpY/s1600/Brownlee0+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QP7hyqoEAbU/Td0TQrsbvvI/AAAAAAAAATw/gMWPcR2rmpY/s200/Brownlee0+9.jpg" width="133" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jo1Qn3pn6tg/Td0TR9A4C3I/AAAAAAAAAT0/voFpzPdfl7I/s1600/Brownlee0+13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jo1Qn3pn6tg/Td0TR9A4C3I/AAAAAAAAAT0/voFpzPdfl7I/s200/Brownlee0+13.jpg" width="133" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9UEoqHoNzSU/Td0TT6KGwSI/AAAAAAAAAT4/YKgOr33sX8k/s1600/Brownlee0+830.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9UEoqHoNzSU/Td0TT6KGwSI/AAAAAAAAAT4/YKgOr33sX8k/s200/Brownlee0+830.jpg" width="133" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">My bouquet {first picture on the left above} was an arrangement of slightly peach roses in honor of my Nunna{grandmother} who loved peach roses and was wrapped with material that came from the wedding dress that my Nunna, her sisters, my aunt and my mother wore in their weddings. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">The only direction I really gave for the flowers was about my bouquet and that I wanted white flowers and hydrangeas. {Oh, and I didn't want pink. Don't get me wrong, I love the color pink, pink is a beautiful color in weddings, it just wasn't what I wanted.} When I walked into the auditorium to see the flowers I was floored. It was incredible and a little overwhelming as I could not have expected the masterpiece they had put together. This picture does not do the beauty justice! It was breathtaking.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-M7ue5aUD3WA/Td0TZKf4o1I/AAAAAAAAAT8/QFxYBHQeidc/s1600/Brownlee0+1064.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="422" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-M7ue5aUD3WA/Td0TZKf4o1I/AAAAAAAAAT8/QFxYBHQeidc/s640/Brownlee0+1064.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Thank you John and Alice! You truly have an amazing God given talent and I will forever be grateful to you all for blessing our wedding day with that gift. </div>defining designs by missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15584659835195752746noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-300028398377896127.post-40323244249745519182011-05-25T09:10:00.000-05:002011-05-25T09:10:37.489-05:00The dress...<div style="text-align: center;">My wedding dress...</div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;">maybe my favorite thing about the entire day, other than the guy at the end of the aisle :)</div><div style="text-align: center;">{and the fact that we got to go on vacation}</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">The story behind the dress is fun...</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A4gRNwWGoJ0/Td0JfLmfN0I/AAAAAAAAATc/5M9fyA8P6uE/s1600/dress.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A4gRNwWGoJ0/Td0JfLmfN0I/AAAAAAAAATc/5M9fyA8P6uE/s320/dress.jpg" width="223" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>In true girl fashion, I began looking online at wedding stuff about a year before we got engaged. I found this dress online and loved it, so I stashed the picture away in a file and found out where in Nashville I could find this designer. A year later, after we got engaged, my mo and sister came in town and we went dress shopping. It was a busy day and a half visiting three dress shops with the third shop carrying the said dress line I had fallin in love with a year before. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
By the end of the second dress shop, I had found one I loved and could imagin myself getting married in. We decided to go to the third shop anyway, just to be sure {by this time I had completely forgotten about the said dress}. We casually flipped through more dresses, picking out about 10 to try on. I remember liking one in particular and when the dress consultant handing it to me first I was excited to try it on. When I steped up on to the pedestal in front of the large mirror it hit me</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">~ this is THE dress ~</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I said it out loud and my mom and sister seemed mildly excited that I thoguht this was the dress I wanted.</div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;">no. this is THE dress. </div><div style="text-align: center;">The dress online. </div><div style="text-align: center;">The dress I have a picture of in my notebook that we've been carrying around for the last 32 hours!</div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;">and it was THE dress.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OouyurrfjzM/Td0JtZ0QIZI/AAAAAAAAATg/bwQ2hJv0Zt4/s1600/Brownlee0+284.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OouyurrfjzM/Td0JtZ0QIZI/AAAAAAAAATg/bwQ2hJv0Zt4/s320/Brownlee0+284.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><br />
I, of course, had to add my touch to it. We added a sash and a large white flower. And then we added the lace trimmed chapel length mantia vaile...</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5BgLP-VseMo/Td0MAqzAvuI/AAAAAAAAATs/eSDLJ-snWco/s1600/Brownlee0+190.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="133" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5BgLP-VseMo/Td0MAqzAvuI/AAAAAAAAATs/eSDLJ-snWco/s200/Brownlee0+190.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6f1HBoezRyE/Td0LQlaX25I/AAAAAAAAATo/gzq8x4UKggM/s1600/Brownlee0+207.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="133" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6f1HBoezRyE/Td0LQlaX25I/AAAAAAAAATo/gzq8x4UKggM/s200/Brownlee0+207.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NJGhzTWOmM0/TdrQsmXmRUI/AAAAAAAAATY/2GhcJelAWZc/s1600/Picture1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="66" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NJGhzTWOmM0/TdrQsmXmRUI/AAAAAAAAATY/2GhcJelAWZc/s200/Picture1.png" width="200" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">We had a beautiful and relaxing honeymoon{pictures and post coming}, however....</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">...now it is back to reality - bills, work{to pay for said bills}, moving the rest of my stuff, and making room for all of that stuff.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">....................................................................................</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">This week I would like to reminisce a little bit about my wedding and hightlight some of our amazing vendors and memorable moments.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">First, our cakes...because we LOVE cake!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Our cakes were done by <a href="http://maineventpro.com/bakeshoppe.html">The Bake Shoppe</a> with Main Event Productions in Nashville, TN. I couldn't have asked for more! They were beautiful and so delicious. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y1BTWarNWV8/TdrLe7C7LeI/AAAAAAAAATU/9yAfETIW9KQ/s1600/Brownlee0+973.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y1BTWarNWV8/TdrLe7C7LeI/AAAAAAAAATU/9yAfETIW9KQ/s320/Brownlee0+973.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">The bridal cake was 4-tier cake with white butter cream frosting. The Bake Shoppe allowed us to mix up cake flavors from tier to tier as well as within some of the tiers! The bottom tier had strawberry and white almond cake. The second tire was all strawberry and the third was all white almond. The top tier, that has been carefully wrapped and frozen for our first anniversary, is strawberry and double chocolate chocolate chip{part of the Groom's cake}. If cake can be juicy - this strawberry cake is! </div><div style="text-align: center;">So good! I even asked T{the Mr.} if we could just eat it next month - he said no.</div><div style="text-align: center;">They also matched the fondant ribbon at the base of ever tier to my sash and bridesmaids dress color!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6chcwuB5jmc/TdrLdf4qoXI/AAAAAAAAATQ/K_uQblK9Oik/s1600/Brownlee0+974.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6chcwuB5jmc/TdrLdf4qoXI/AAAAAAAAATQ/K_uQblK9Oik/s320/Brownlee0+974.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The Groom's cake was a mix double chocolate chocolate chip and red velvet cake with a chocolate butter cream frosting, chocolate ganache drizzle and chocolate covered strawberries. We just found out that there was more of this cake in his mom's freezer - we are so excited! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">If you are in the market for a special occasions cake or need an excuse to have a really yummy cake, contact <a href="http://maineventpro.com/bakeshoppe.html">The Bake Shoppe</a>! They were so easy to work with, a great value and delivered a great product. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
